How to Evolve Weapons in Anime Zero and Unlock Your Ultimate
“How do I unlock the ultimate?” and “How do I get G?” are two of the most asked questions under Anime Zero videos. The answer is evolution.
What evolution does
A newly rolled weapon has M1 plus three skills. Evolving it unlocks the ultimate on G, the strongest skill in its kit. Players who evolved Lyth weapons on stream also show a lobby aura and larger attack effects. Current reports say each weapon evolves once: players who saw a second evolve prompt were told by helpers in the Discord that there is no further evolution yet.
How to evolve, step by step
- Pick the weapon you will keep. Materials are weapon-specific; do not spread them.
- Find out what it needs. Open Areas in the lobby and go to the Evolution NPC, then select the weapon to see its requirement list.
- Farm the materials. The queue screen in Create Lobby shows which act or mode drops what before you start. Since October 3 every HxH act has its own drop list.
- Lean on material pity. If a material fails to drop five runs in a row, the next run guarantees it.
- Evolve once every line on the list is green.
Known evolution materials
| Weapon | Materials shown in footage |
|---|---|
| Cursed King (Sukuna) | Sukuna Fingers, plus eyes and other drops |
| Cataclysm (Miyabi) | 4 Soul Fragments |
| Paramita Pyre (Hu Tao) | ~20 common silver material, ~8 Staff of Homa, 25 Ghosts |
| Other weapons | Not documented yet; check the in-game list |
LY* has not published recipes, so these come from evolution screens in creator videos. Hu Tao’s two raid items only drop in the Bath House raid.
Why can’t I evolve my weapon?
This is the most common evolution complaint, and it usually is not a bug.
- “I have all the items but it won’t evolve.” Players report the Cataclysm button reading 4/6 requirements with every material in hand, and Sukuna refusing to evolve “even with all the items and the title”. The requirement list has more lines than materials. Scroll the whole list and look for level, title or second-material lines.
- Wrong item counts. Story bosses stopped dropping materials on October 4; only normal enemies do. If you farmed by killing bosses only, your count may be lower than you think.
- Wrong weapon selected. The evolve menu acts on the weapon you select there, not necessarily the one equipped.
If everything is truly met and it still fails, rejoin a fresh server; old servers can run the previous build after a patch.
Where to farm materials
- Story acts: each act drops its own list. Higher difficulty means more enemies (HxH spawns 40 on Easy up to 105 on Nightmare) and more rolls.
- Infinite: materials can drop every wave from wave 16, with better ones at waves 31 and 46, and bosses drop them too.
- Material shop: some materials can be bought with coins in the crafting menu, and you can convert one material into another.
- 2X Drop Rate pass doubles material drops if you want to pay to speed this up. See game passes.
